How to Make Traditional Tomato Pizza Sauce

This recipe is for an authentic traditional tomato pizza sauce.


1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes

1/2 cup tomato paste

1/4 cup olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil leaves

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper


In a large saucepan, combine the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, olive oil, garlic, oregano, basil and black pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
